Last week, on Thursday, 2 April, the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) took part in the National Women Entrepreneurs Conference 2026, joining hundreds of women in business to discuss practical ways to grow and formalise enterprises.
Held under the theme “Unlocking Barriers Affecting Women Entrepreneurs,” the conference focused on real challenges faced by women, from starting small businesses to expanding into larger ventures. While URSB did not present on stage, its team engaged directly with participants through one-on-one conversations.
Many women shared a common concern about how to register their businesses. One participant said, “We need to understand the rightful way to register our businesses,” asking for clear steps to formalise her work. Others noted that complex procedures and limited access to simple information continue to slow them down.

The discussions also revealed low awareness about protecting business names and brands, even among women already running recognisable enterprises. Access to credit was another concern, with many unfamiliar with how movable assets can support financing.
The URSB team, led by Mr. Hussein Mubiru, Registration Officer, used the opportunity to guide participants and listen to their experiences. The feedback highlighted the need for simpler processes, clearer communication, and consistent outreach.
The conference closed with an understanding that when information is accessible and practical, more women are able to take the next step in building sustainable businesses.
