On Friday, 10th October 2025, Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) Registrar General, Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho, was profiled as one of Uganda’s inspirational leaders in the Business Daily’s prestigious Boss Talk section.
Interviewed by renowned business reporter Ms. Dorothy Nakaweesi, the Registrar General spoke candidly about URSB’s future, its strategic direction, and the central role of digitalization in driving service delivery. She highlighted that URSB’s Strategic Plan is anchored on four priorities: strengthening business formalisation, enhancing intellectual property rights protection, leveraging digital transformation, and deepening stakeholder engagement.
“We are deliberately positioning URSB as a catalyst for enterprise growth and national development,” She noted, adding that URSB’s work is directly aligned with Uganda’s Vision 2040 and the Third National Development Plan.
A key highlight of the discussion was URSB’s ongoing digital transformation. The Registrar General revealed that URSB is now able to monitor business registrations and service uptake in real-time, thanks to improved digital tools and data systems. “Our digital experience is about creating a seamless journey for our clients, cutting red tape, and giving government the information it needs to plan effectively,” she explained.
Ms. Kainobwisho also emphasized her leadership philosophy, which blends innovation with accountability. She pointed out that URSB’s investments in technology are not only improving efficiency but also enhancing transparency, inclusiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Being recognized among Uganda’s best performing agencies, the Registrar General said the entity had prioritized delivery of services in support of government aspirations to ensure the livelihoods of citizens are enhanced, a call to duty that is placed first in all operations.
