

The International Bar Association (IBA) Annual Conference 2025 brought together thousands of legal professionals from across the globe at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) from Sunday, November 2 to Friday, November 7, 2025. The prestigious event served as a global platform for knowledge exchange, policy dialogue, and professional networking among lawyers, regulators, and corporate governance experts.
URSB was represented by Registrar General Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho and Assistant Commissioner Ms. Carolynn Nazziwa. Their participation enabled the bureau to engage directly with international best practices, hold bilateral discussions with counterpart institutions, and strengthen URSB’s position within the global community of corporate registries and professional regulators.


The five-day program featured more than 15 sessions covering topics central to URSB’s mandate, including corporate registration, professional regulation, compliance, and innovation in business structures. Discussions also addressed the digital transformation of registry services and the establishment of enhanced compliance frameworks.
Of special relevance was the African Regional Forum, which provided a platform for engagement between African legal institutions and international counterparts, fostering regional collaboration and capacity building.
The 2025 IBA Conference reaffirmed its reputation as a premier global legal gathering, equipping participants with insights and strategies to navigate evolving challenges in corporate governance and professional regulation worldwide.
