URSB at Uganda’s 63rd Independence: Celebrating growth and progress

Greetings, Colleagues in Service,

As Uganda marks 63 years of Independence on 9th  October 2025, I salute our nation’s enduring resilience, unity, and progress.

At URSB, we take pride in our remarkable journey of transformation and national impact. Together, we have:

  1. Digitized all documents,
  2. Automated our services and processes through online digital platforms like OBRS, IPAS, SIMPA, TM View etc, 
  3. ⁠Improved efficiency, accessibility, and customer experience,
  4. Expanded service access countrywide through new branch offices, mobile outreach programs, TREP locations and online platforms,
  5. Successfully implemented key programmes and projects such as TREP and Mass Business Registration, driving formalisation and inclusion,
  6. Enhanced staff capacity and welfare through continuous training, internal recruitments, leadership development, and improved staff benefits,
  7. Reformed key business and intellectual property laws, aligning Uganda’s framework with international best practices and supporting private sector growth,
  8. Improved the work environment ,
  9. Supported staff with working tools (soft and hardware),
  10. Expanded staff mobility through procurement of more vehicles,
  11. Prioritized staff safety, health, and wellness,
  12. Expanded partnerships with government institutions, regional bodies, and international organizations such as WIPO, ARIPO etc,
  13. Played a central role in getting Uganda off the FATF grey list, reinforcing trust in our national systems and improving the country’s global standing.
  14. Ratified and domesticated several international IP treaties and protocols, enhancing Uganda’s participation in the global IP ecosystem,
  15. Hosted successful national  regional and international events,
  16. Commenced construction and officially entered our new Kololo premises,
  17. Championed innovation and enterprise growth through the Business Rescue and Aftercare Program (BRAP),
  18. Embarked on implementing the ISO Quality Management System,
  19. Strengthened leadership, governance, and institutional culture,
  20. Taking on new mandates like the non-individual register
  21. Creation of new departments including the Department of Copyright and neighboring Rights,
  22. Developing , launching key documents like the Strategic Plans, URSB Registry Magazine, Weekly Spotlight News, Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures,
  23. Enhanced URSB’s visibility and reputation through effective communication, corporate branding, and stakeholder engagement,
  24. Receiving a number of awards and recognitions,
  25. The list goes on……

As we celebrate this national milestone, let us remain steadfast in protecting the gains we have achieved ,  through excellence in service, accountability, and dedication to our mandate. The progress of our nation depends on each of us doing our part with passion, integrity, and purpose.
